Yukon Optics NVMT 2x24 Gen. 2+ Night Vision Monocular.
The NVMT 2x24 Gen 2+ may look like the NVMT 2x24 Gen 1, but that is where the similarities end. The NVMT 2x24’s premium Gen 2+ image intensifier tube makes all the difference, resulting in a higher performance.
All image intensifier tubes work by using a photocathode to transform the gathered light into electrons, which then pass through the tube and bombard a Phosphor screen to produce the green illumination of an image.
The difference between Gen 1 and Gen 2+ is that the Gen 2+ uses a tiny glass disc that has millions of microscopic holes in it with metal electrodes, known as a Microchannel Plate (MCP). This MCP is placed before the Phosphor screen and acts as an electron multiplier, which increases light sensitivity. Since the MCP actually increases the number of electrons instead of just accelerating the original ones, the images are significantly less distorted and brighter than Gen 1 night vision devices.
Generation 2+ night vision units have shown major improvements in image resolution and general performance and are considerably more reliable. The biggest gain in Generation 2 is the ability to see in extremely low light conditions, such as a moonless night, without the use of an infrared (IR) illuminator.
Though the use of an infrared illuminator isn’t necessary with Gen 2+ night vision units, the NVMT 2x24 Gen 2+ comes with the exclusive built-in PULSE** IR Illuminator for use in total darkness. The IR Illuminator expands the unit’s viewing range and minimizes battery drainage, in addition to staying invisible to the human eye.
The unit is powered by a 3V Lithium CR123A battery. A green LED indicates the power status of the unit and a red LED indicates the IR Illuminator’s power. Newly developed, fully multicoated optics that decrease glare and improve light transmission, provide excellent viewing through improved wavelength/contrast characteristics. The NVMT embraces modern, cutting-edge technology, without forgetting practicality. The 13 oz., ergonomically-designed NVMT is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand, pocket or backpack.
The NVMT consists of the normal night vision ingredients: optics (glass),
a system of electronics (batteries, wire, transformer, regulators and capacitors) and an image intensifier tube, which creates the viewed image. When viewing through the NVMT you will see a greenish image due to the nature of night vision. The unit’s lens cap is equipped with a small pin hole to allow daytime viewing without destroying the image intensifier tube.
The NVMT sheds the burden of a one-dimensional item and evolves into a multi-functional system, with the addition of accessories, allowing the unit to be used in virtually any environment. The NVMT units can serve as a camera accessory as well as many other easily adaptable units. You can design the unit to fit your specific needs.
The built-in ¼” tripod socket allows the unit to be affixed to a tripod for stable viewing and camera adapters allow the user to photograph night vision observations. With so many features, the NVMT is the ultimate in multi-tasking night vision units and serves all your night vision needs.
The NVMT is used for both professional and recreational purposes. Law enforcement, search and rescue missions, border control, surveillance, and property maintenance have all benefited from the use of night vision optics. Recreational uses vary from camping, hiking, nature observation, game tracking, target shooting, cave exploration, boating, fishing, and there are even night paint ball leagues.
